Welcome to Hillcrest Hoppers!

Our Nursery supports children aged 2 in their early development leading to a smooth start in education.

What an amazing term we have had at Hoppers! We have explored lots of amazing topics and themes through creative and inviting provision.

In Spring 1, we focussed on 'The Gingerbread Man', 'The 3 Little Pigs' and 'Chinese New Year'! When we were learning about Chinese New Year, we even got to try prawn crackers and noodles!

In Spring 2, we have been focussing on stories such as 'Owl Babies' and 'We are going on a bear hunt'.

In Hoppers, we follow the children's interests and ensure we adapt and change our language and questioning to further our pupils learning. This term, we have been learning about space. The children have enjoyed it so much that we have carried this interest through to another week. We have explored lots of sensory and creative activities. We have been engaging in counting activities as well as lots of mark making provision.

This term, we have opened up our doors to create a free flow environment. This means that the children can access the outdoor provision as well as the indoor provision at any time they wish.

We have snack time every day. We can choose to have milk or water and there is a different fruit to try each day. During this time, we practice our nursery rhymes. At the end of the day, a slip is sent home to parents letting them know what we have eaten and had to drink this day. It also lets our parents know if our nappies have been changed or if we have used the toilet during session.

We love our new 'Gem Powers'. We are working on being independent with our exploring during free flow time.

In Hoppers, every child has a Key Person. This is a named member of staff for every child who ensures that they feel safe and cared for.

We put lots of our learning on 'Tapestry'. This is a secure online learning journal where parents can view their own child's weekly learning through photos, observations and videos.

We also update our ClassDojo feed. ClassDojo allows us to connect with parents and answer any questions.
