Welcome to Ruby Class!

Hello and welcome to Miss Fletcher’s class page. Our class is called the Ruby Class! We are joined in Ruby Class by our fantastic teaching assistant, Mrs Dennett.

In Ruby Class, we love learning through independent discovery time. During this time, we have exciting creative provision to explore that all links to our learning. We complete daily Maths and Phonics lessons, and have choosing shelves relating to these subjects to help promote independence. We also have  Construction, Small World and Role Play areas inside our classroom to promote creativity and choice. We have a reading den to have some quiet reading time, and focus activities on our tables.

We are lucky enough to have an outdoor area too! Our Ruby Garden is a fantastic addition to our classroom. It provides the perfect space for our sand and water stations, as well as even more focus activities to explore on the tables! Our EYFS outdoor area is also really fun to explore.

In Autumn 1, we are having lots of fun getting to know each other and exploring the topic ‘All About Me’.

In Phonics, we have started at the beginning of the Little Wandle programme by learning our phase 2 single sounds. We will be staring our reading groups soon! We have also started Rhyme Time, a superb programme provided by Little Wandle. This will help us develop our vocabulary.

In Maths, we have just finished learning all about matching and sorting and will begin learning about measuring and patterns.

In reception, we focus on the gems ‘Diamond’, ‘Ruby’, ‘Emerald’ and ‘Opal’. We earn a diamond for being independent, a ruby for supporting our friends, an emerald for bouncing back and an opal for being respectful and using good manners. Ruby Class are excellent at earning their gems. When we have filled up our pot, we will earn an exciting class reward.
